On Patrol
An Israeli gunship patrols the Israel-Lebanon border at Rosh Hanikra.
Bright yellow buoys (not pictured) delineate the border between the two countries on the Mediterranean Sea. The buoys marking the line between Israeli waters and Lebanese waters extend to horizon — and perhaps beyond.
Suicide Bombing Rocks Eilat
A 21-year-old suicide bomber killed three people this morning when he entered a bakery in the southern Israeli city of Eliat and blew himself up. An al-Qaeda affiliated group called Army of Believers took responsibility for the blast as did the terrorist groups Islamic Jihad and the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade. The bomber was identified as Mohammed Fasial al-Saqsaq from Gaza.
UPDATE: The three victims were named as Israel Smuliah, 26, Michael Ben-Sa’adon, also 26, and Emil Almaliach, 36. Almaliach is survived by two small children and his wife. Ben-Sa’adon is survived by his son, a baby boy, and his wife.
The suicide bomber’s mother is “very proud” of her son, who is, in her eyes, a “martyr.”
